Every state has a governing department for recruitment of personnel in the state’s public services. TNPSC – Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission is one such department. TNPSC is headed by chairman, secretary, joint secretary, etc.
In all the TNPSC commission consist of 15 members which includes the chairman of the commission. The members of the commission are appointed by the Governor of the state.

History of TNPSC
Under an ACT of Madras Legislature, the Madras Service Commission was established in the year 1929. This Commission was started with 3 member which included the chairman of the Commission.
In the year 1957 there was reorganization of states across the country and this made the Madras service commission as Madras Public Service Commission.
In 1970, Madras was named as Tamil Nadu and hence the name TNPSC which stands for Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission.

Functions of TNPSC
There are different functions that are performed by the TNPSC, they are as follows:
- As per the article 320 of the Constitution the functions of the Public Service Commissions are as follows:
- To conduct examinations for the service of the Union and the State respectively.
- The other states can also be assisted if they request in framing schemes of joint recruitment for any service.
All the functions and decisions are taken with accordance of President / Governor of the State.
There are much more functions and responsibilities of the TNPSC. The TNPSC can also extend their functions by using the article 321 which state about the same.

Combined Civil Services Exam-4 Group 4 services written exam results are declared by TNPSC on the official website.
This year the TNPSC exam was conducted on 11 Feb across India. There were more than 6500 examination centers and more than 20 lakh candidates participated.
All the candidates who have appeared for the exams can click here http://www.tnpsc.gov.in and check out your result by entering your registration number.
The candidates can also take out the print of their marksheets from the website.
The TNPSC Group 4 recruitment is done to select employees for various posts for Tamil Nadu Judicial Ministerial Service, State Ministerial Service, State Survey and Land records subordinate service and state secretariat service.
The TNPSC declared last year that they have got more than 9300 posts for the Group 4 recruitment. This has also been reason for large number of candidates opting for the TNPSC exams.
After the results the date and time for verification of certificates will not be done through post. The TNPSC will inform the candidate thorough mobile SMS/email and the details will be available on the official website http://www.tnpsc.gov.in
